All the fabrics I chose for this project.
I know, it's crazy, two posts in one day but I need some help. I am participating in another swap. I won't go into specifics in case my partner happens across this post, which is unlikely but you never know. My plan is to make a stacked table runner. My secret partner likes most of the popular fabric designers that we all do. My partner likes bold prints, bright colors, modern florals. I suppose my problem is that I am getting hung up on my fabric choices. Am I heading in the right direction?
The fabric strips have been cut down to various lengths and I'm starting to build out from the middle of my design wall pulling from the fabrics on the sides.
I chose to go with a mixture of Amy Butler's Soul Blossoms with AMH's Innocent Crush. The background fabric is a stone linen. Is this way too out there for a table runner? I think I'm getting stymied because mixing all these bold prints is way out of my comfort zone. Is this heading down the ugly stream? Or am I just scared because they're out of the norm for me?
Really, I need some input, please.
I'd stay with the cooler colors, the prints that are predominately blue and green. I'd take out the 1st, 5th and last from the last picture. the 5th fabric reads red to me, even though red isn't the predominate color. I think 3 is fine because it is a cooler purple.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comment...and I like all of your fabric choices..you'll do a wonderful job
ReplyDeleteI actually like the mix of cool and warm colors together - it gives your eye someplace to stop and rest and then you can take in the colors on either side. I think it might be bland and "safe" if you just stick with one spectrum.... I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. All of your fabrics are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteUh, totally my style. But you gotta do what you gotta do, right? I'm a scrappy girl.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I love it, and I am sure she will too!
ReplyDeleteI'd pop in a little more of the greens. I love your fabrci choices. It's going to be so bright and modern! You just got yourself a new follower girl. I too just recently got addicted to quilting!
ReplyDeleteBy your description of her likes, I think it's great!
ReplyDeleteI really love where this is going so far! It's a very nice combination of patterns and colors!
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'm probably a little late with my advice, but I think what you've got here is absolutely gorgeous! It's a good start, keep going! Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
