August do. Good Stitches Blocks

Last night was hockey night for the husband so I decided to get a jump on my August blocks for the do. Good Stitches Bee. After culling through my novelty fabrics last week I decided that we were short on Red, Aqua and Blue blocks so I committed to those colors. I pulled my coordinates but realized that I was a little thin in some areas so I did a little fabric shopping. Okay, I really didn't need the aquas that I bought. I certainly had enough in my stash to cover me on this project but I couldn't resist. I didn't find a ton of true blues and reds that I liked at Michael Levine but I came away with a sufficient stack...

Natalie asked for us to make two Rainbow I Spy Blocks from Anna Maria Horner's tutorial. This month we are diverging from donating to our usual charity, Threading Hope, and our preemie quilt(s) are going to the NICU at the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Northern Virginia. Natalie actually decided to take this project a step further this month and she's extending her ask for blocks past the Hope Circle. She's organized a block drive to collect more blocks. The more blocks she gets - the more quilts she will have to donate. If you would like to help out she is accepting blocks now through the end of October. For every 9 blocks she receives she can make one preemie quilt. If you want more details head over to Natalie's blog Threaded Mess.

We are only required to make two blocks every month but since this has become bigger than our little circle I started with three blocks and I have the intention of making more between now and the October deadline. These blocks are really simple and fun to make. I whipped up all three in no time last night. They were so easy I'm actually thinking about making a quilt of my own for a friend of mine from this design.

So that's one more thing crossed off the massive to do list I have running in my head. Oh, and in other news, I started an Undercover Crafter Page on Facebook. I'd love to have you hop on over and "like" me if you want to. Oh, so many jokes there...
